Special Section on the Promises
Embedded in a paragraph beginning on page 83 and continuing on page 84 of Alcoholics Anonymous are what some of us in the Fellowship refer to as the Promises. For others, the Promises are scattered in great profusion throughout the text of the Big Book.
However we view these promised rewards of recovery, they are, as our sponsors have reminded us, neither automatic nor unconditional. They are solely the result of working the Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
And yet what a powerful incentive they are. In this program, we find the things we have always wanted. When we first came to these meetings, they told us it would get better.
What an understatement.
